The Chair with blue velvet made by W. Hands & Sons LTD. The stool, from a design by Edward Barnsley in blue velvet by Glenister Maker Wycombe. All in original untouched condition with stamps to underside
Provenance.
The chair was used at the Coronation by either Lady Coomaraswamy (Ceylon,today Shri Lanka) wife of Sir Velupillal Coomaraswamy. Diplomat, Ceylonese High Commisioner to Canada and Envoy to Burma. Or Mrs E Carnegy, later Baroness Carnegy of Louth. Her many interest included Girl Guides for Scotland, The Open University and community education.
The stool was used at the Coronation by either Willibald Joseph MacDonald. Educator and Political figure and 19th Lieutenant Govenor of Prince Edward Island or Alfred Naqqache, a Maronite Lebenese Statesman, Prime Minister and Head of state under the French Mandate
