A fine 19th century dumb waiter, beautifully crafted in the manner of Gillows of Lancaster, showcasing the quality and restrained elegance associated with this renowned English furniture maker. Constructed from rich mahogany, the dumb waiter features two circular tiers with finely moulded edges, supported by a turned central column. The base is formed by three elegantly shaped legs, each terminating in the original brass castors, allowing ease of movement.
This antique dumb waiter table dates to the early–mid 1800s and exemplifies classic Regency to early Victorian design, combining practicality with refined craftsmanship. Originally intended for use in the dining room for serving dishes or wine, it now makes a versatile and decorative antique side table, serving table, or hall piece.
The colour, proportions, and detailing are entirely consistent with Gillows-style furniture, making it an excellent example for collectors and interior designers seeking English antique furniture, period mahogany furniture, or a statement 19th century serving table.
A rare and elegant piece with strong decorative appeal and excellent usability today.
