A rare Regency sofa bed

C1830

This exceptional early 19th-century Regency mahogany sofa bed combines classic elegance with practical function. Crafted from rich, figured mahogany, the piece features distinctive scrolled arms, reeded detailing, and graceful sabre-style legs, all in excellent condition.

A button-tufted cream squab cushion rests on the seat; when opened, the front section unfolds on sturdy hinges to reveal wooden slats, transforming the sofa into bed. The underside of the extending frame is finished with matching striped fabric for a polished appearance even when open. The underlying upholstery is in excellent condition. Just needs recovering.

Ideal as an antique Regency daybed, mahogany sofa bed, or convertible seating for period interiors, guest rooms, or collectors seeking authentic Georgian/Regency furniture with dual purpose. A rare and practical example of early 19th-century design.
