C1900 plaster bust of Caesar

A striking late19th century, early 20th century polychrome painted plaster bust of Julius Caesar, this classical sculpture captures the commanding presence of Rome’s most iconic military and political leader. Expertly modelled in plaster, the bust features a finely detailed white-painted portrait set against a contrasting dark draped toga, creating a dramatic two-tone polychrome finish that enhances its visual depth and neoclassical appeal.

With strong Roman features—high cheekbones, furrowed brow and stern expression—this antique Caesar bust evokes the grandeur of ancient imperial portraiture and makes an exceptional statement piece for interiors, libraries, studies, galleries or period homes. The original painted surface shows attractive age-related wear and patina, adding authenticity and character consistent with 19th century decorative sculpture.

Highly sought after by collectors of Grand Tour antiques, neoclassical décor, and classical Roman sculpture, this rare bust offers timeless decorative appeal and historical gravitas. Ideal as a focal point on a pedestal, console, or mantelpiece.
