C1850. A hand coloured engraving of "Beeswing", winner of the 1842 Ascot Gold Cup, in its original "birds eye" maple frame.

Beeswing (1833-1854) was a 19th century British thoroughbred racehorse. In her day she was celebrated as the greatest mare in Britain and one of the greatest of all time.
